The project to re-introduce elk to Jackson County will be the topic of the Friends of the Black River’s Oct. 14 meeting. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the Jackson County Bank.
Scott Roepke, wildlife biologist with the Department of Natural Resources, will present an update on the project to establish a herd of elk in the county. The DNR has relocated 26 elk captured in Kentucky to the county as the first group in the re-introduction project.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
