Program on falconry at middle school, November 2015

The public is invited to a program about the Sport of Kings. The educational presentation on falconry, sponsored by the Friends of the Black River, will be held Thursday, Nov. 19. The program will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the large group instruction room in the Black River Falls Middle School and will last about an hour.

The free program will feature the Pat LaBarbera family and their hunting birds of prey. The LaBarberas have been practicing the ancient art of falconry since 2009. They will share information about how the birds are caught and trained as well as explain the equipment the falconers use. They will have birds on hand and demonstrate how the birds respond to commands and how they capture prey.
