By | September 28, 2018

A presentation about habitat research using “insect hotels” will be the topic of the next Friends of the Black River meeting. Dr. Ted Wilson, biology professor at Viterbo University, and Ben Gibson, biology major and president of the college’s Science Club, will present the program Wednesday, Oct. 10. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the Jackson County Bank.

The presenters will discuss how honey bees can be in competition with native pollinators and how the diverse habitats in an insect hotel help researchers study native pollinators.

Presentation attendees will be able to take part in an interactive demonstration with living insects and arthropods.

The program is free and the public is encouraged to attend. For more information, email info_fbr@yahoo.com.
