Hansen Landing Picnic Table Project

A new picnic table has landed at the Hanson Canoe Landing.

small_hanson-canoe-landing-picnic-table-08Crafted by Basil Holder the beautiful sturdy octagonal table has been water sealed and will age to a natural gray.  The landing was leveled and fresh gravel fill added before the picnic table was installed. Mary Hansen, who’s family has cooperated with Friends of the Black River and West Wisconsin Land Trust in protecting this site and providing public access to the Black River, will store the table from fall until spring floods have passed. So bring your family, bring your picnic to the Irving site and enjoy the riverside view.

September Conservation Forum

Seeking common ground and opportunities to build partnerships, representatives from local conservation organizations and sportsmen's clubs attended a workshop sponsored by the Friends of the Black River. The half-day forum was held at the Black River Falls Middle School, Saturday September 6th and began with Andy Ellingson, President of the Friends of the Black River, outlining the goals of the forum. "Black River Country is blessed with beautiful land and water resources and a wide diversity of local groups organized to help protect those resources. We hope that this forum will help identify common ground and build relations among the groups", noted Ellingson.
