Visit UW-Extension office and get your Rain Barrel!
Rain barrels are on sale through the Jackson County UW-Extension office as of the week of April 18th for $25 each. Rain barrels can play an important part in environmental protection and preservation. For every inch of rain that falls on a 1,000 sq. foot roof, about 600 gallons of water can be collected. Rain barrels provide homeowners and gardeners a source of water that is typically preferred over city water for irrigating gardens and lawns. Rain barrels reduce the amount of water running into lakes and rivers, thus reducing erosion and helping prevent storm water pollution of lakes and water ways. All proceeds from the rain barrel sale go to the Spaulding Road Community Garden. Contact the Extension office to purchase a barrel at 715-284-4257 or visit the office at 227 S. 11th Street, Black River Falls, WI.for more info contact us
