The Friends of the Black River invites the public to join its members for a prairie wildflower walk.
The free event will be held Wednesday, July 19, at the Ron Cork property located at W11334 County Hwy C, Black River Falls. Cork has been converting his farmland to natural prairie habitat using plants native to the region growing in the landscape before European settlers began farming the land. The variety of plants supports a diversity of insects and other wildlife.
The hike will begin at 6:30 p.m. Those interested in participating who would like to carpool can meet at 6 p.m. in the Jackson County UW-Extension office parking lot.
