Monday evening, December 14th, Friends of the Black river will hold their annual Christmas party at the Falls Cinema Theatre. Registration and social hour will begin at 6:00 PM with film to begin at 7:00 PM. The $10 (children 12 and under, $7) admission will include pizza, popcorn and beverage as well as a full screen viewing of locally filmed whitewater and quiet water kayaking on the Black and its tributaries.

On May 30, 2009 “Discover Wisconsin” filmed a peak whitewater kayaking day on the Black River near Hatfield Wisconsin, to be aired publically in 2010. Videographer Dave Jergenson was among the whitewater paddlers filmed by the television crew. Equipped with a helmet camera, Dave captured unique and breathtaking footage as he and other paddlers ran the challenging whitewater rapids on this outstandingly scenic stretch of the Black River.

Later that weekend Dave captured the beauty of Hall’s Creek and Robinson Creek as a group of paddlers negotiated the quiet water and the whitewater of those creeks, including several waterfalls. Edited and set to music this footage is testimony to the unique and spectacular waterways available to paddlers in our community.

Filling out the evening viewing will be films from the highly acclaimed Planet Earth Public Television series and other selected outdoor films. The public is invited to attend this event. Door prizes will be awarded!

Registration for the event may be done by e-mail: andyellingson@yahoo.com , or phone: 715-896-4901.
